McCorison Homes created a space for a Nashville session drummer who wanted to work from home.

The Studio was created in the existing basement. Poured concrete foundation walls were part of the existing structure.   They were stained along with the concrete floor to achieve a warm and inviting evironment in a cost effective way.

Some challenges in the project…
Getting enough sound isolation to be able play drums and not wake up the baby on the 1st floor.

We used a combination of detached framing – floating structure – room within a room and double walls with 4 layers of drywall, air spaces and special sound deadening materials. The ceiling framing is suspended on wire to keep sound from transferring to the floor above.

The heat and air system was modified to make it quiet by using oversized ducting and a blower that starts up and shuts down gradually.
The full studio construction utilizes angled walls to to create the optimum listening environment.
